Abu Dhabi Set To Develop New Creativity Zones

Feb 25,2018

As the UAE creative community witnesses the innovative drive to support, expand and grow the industry, each week there are exciting new project announcements. This week is no different!

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces have just approvedthree new projects, to drive tourism and opportunities for the creative industry.

As the UAE's leadership recognizes the importance of diversifying the economy, creative individuals living in the country are well placed to take advantage of all the new opportunities.

Overall, the new projects will cover approximately 3 million square meters in the Zayed Port area.

A Media Production City

As Dubai and Abu Dhabi have caught the eye of Hollywood and Bollywood, we have seen increasing numbers of blockbusters being filmed in both cities. From Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol back in 2011, to Fast and Furious in 2015, to Star Wars – The Force Awakens also shot in 2015, there is no doubt more filmmakers will be coming to the UAE. In response to the demand, a media production city is being planned to cover 300,000 square meters. An external filming site, as well as Cinema and TV production studios, will be encompassed into the project.

A Creativity Zone

The creativity zone will provide residential and miscellaneous facilities for innovators to work and develop their projects. There will also be leisure and recreational areas included in the development. The Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation will develop this project in the area around Warehouse421.

As a new hub for the creative community, the development will also be a cultural destination with fresh opportunities for creative individuals that can be improved and built upon.

Welcome 2018. Exciting times ahead!
