Dubai Opera Announces 2019 Cinema Series

Dubai Opera has announced two critically acclaimed films in concert for the 2019 Cinema Series. Audiences will experience the entire films played in high definition on a large screen while the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra performs their complete scores. The symphony will play Nino Rota’s iconic score from The Godfather for one night only on 28 February and John Williams’ incredible music live from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ for four performances from 1 to 2 March, with both shows under the baton of American composer/conductor Justin Freer.


The Godfather in Concert – 28th February 2019 

The Godfather LIVE brings Francis Ford Coppola's Masterpiece Film for the first time, making its debut at Dubai Opera on 28 February. Winner of three Academy® Awards and countless other honors, The Godfather remains one of the greatest films in the history of cinema. Nino Rota's iconic score accompanied by the film's traditional Italian folk music and jazz comes to life on stage, performed live by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra while the film is simultaneously shown in high definition on the big screen.


Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in Concert – March 1st and 2nd 2019

The Harry Potter Film Concert Series returns to Dubai Opera with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets™ in Concert, the second film in the Harry Potter series. On March 1 – 2, Justin Freer will conduct the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra in performing John Williams’ unforgettable score live from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40-foot screen.

Tickets for both performances start from AED 175 and go on sale Thursday 17 January at 12pm with a special early-bird discount of 20% on top 2 seating categories available until 31 January.
