Charlie Sloth, perhaps perceived as the counterpart of DJ Khaled in the UK, has brought his world-famous freestyle platform Fire in the Booth series to none other than Dubai! After recently making headlines for his famous AED1m bill going viral on social media, the voice of UK Grime/Hip Hop is now bringing something of greater colossal to our attention and eager ears.
AhmeDoo Biggie, Santo D’Monkey, P. Storm, Adamillion and Tac all were on the roster for the Dubai cypher which took place on 5th January, the first of a series of performances that will make up the Dubai series of Fire in the Booth, and the first bit of great news in 2021. Local figurehead Big Hass co-hosted the session and the ever-consistent local producer Rayan provided the beat for the cypher.
This is big news not just for these artists but for the UAE in general as Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth series has a worldwide audience, with a cumulative 1.4bn views to date of his freestyle platform. If you’re not yet familiar with the platform, then maybe you’re familiar with some of the names that have featured on it such as Giggs, Drake, Stormzy, Lil Baby, Pop Smoke, Megan Thee Stallion and so on.
The series is brough as a collaboration between NOMAD – a UAE based community driven platform and incubator for grassroots creative talent within the region, and Apple Music. The sessions will premiere exclusively on Apple Music and will be featured on Charlie Sloth’s Rap Show on Apple Music 1. The special six-part series also features UAE super-talents Freek and Jaysus along with international artists Kelvyn Colt (Germany), Ay Em (UK), and Kekra (France).
