Celebrity Judges Announced For Dubai Opera’s ‘From Home To Stage’ Talent Contest

Dubai Opera has announced its panel of celebrity judges for the local talent contest “From Home to Stage” final round taking place on July 29. The prestigious panel comprises of world famous singer, composer and producer Fayez Al Saeed; actress, producer and director Mayssa Maghrebi; award-winning TV presenter and media personality NourAldin AlYousuf; acclaimed pianist and composer Guy Manoukian; internationally acclaimed classical pianist and curator of Music in the Studio series at Dubai Opera Amira Fouad.

The ‘From Home to Stage’ contest was launched across Dubai Opera’s social channels from April 05 – 18 as an initiative seeking to nurture artistic excellence and provide a platform for the next generation of creative talent by introducing two successful applicants to the wide audience. Contestants aged 12 years old and above, who can sing, play an instrument and perform stand-up comedy, were encouraged to submit a prerecorded 90-second videos on their social media platforms showcasing their talent using the hashtag #FromHomeToStage.

Out of the 800 entries received, twelve participants, made it through to the final round which will see the finalists performing live in front of the judging panel at the Dubai Opera auditorium on July 29. Two winners will be offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to shine like real stars: the first winner will be chosen as an opening act for one of Dubai Opera’s significant performers in the upcoming season, and the second winner will have the chance to hold their own one-hour event at the Dubai Opera Studio.

The final decision will be made by a prestigious jury of professionals representing a cross-section of the region’s performing arts community and entertainment industry who will give constructive performance advice to each act individually.  Acts will be judged on technical ability, interpretation, stage presence and originality. Judges’ scores will count toward 50 percent of the total score. Accounting for the other 50 percent, audience votes will be available on Dubai Opera’s social channels starting from Thursday 23 July.
