Sharjah Art Foundation has opened applications to its latest (SFP) Short Film Production Grant. The Applicants should submit a grant application detailing the genre, themes, plot, structure, setting and characters for their original short film. A total of $30,000 will be awarded and distributed amongst the awardees. The final film must be completed by 20 November 2020 and will premiere at Sharjah Film Platform, scheduled to commence December 2020.
Sharjah Film Platform is an annual film festival organised by the Sharjah Art Foundation in support of the burgeoning art scene in the UAE, surrounding region, and internationally, providing a critical platform for emerging and established filmmakers, producers, critics and students. SFP includes a curated film programme and award, a public programme of talks and workshops as well as the presentation of the short films awarded through the Short Film Production Grant. SFP screenings will be presented at Mirage City Cinema, Al Mureijah Square in the heritage area of Sharjah and in various locations across the emirate.
To apply, please complete the application form here and attach your three-minute video (Vimeo / YouTube links) in the appropriate space in the application form. For the purpose of this award, a short film is defined as an original film with a running time of 50 minutes or less, including all credits.
The artistic approach, format and content for the three-minute video are open. Applicants will be assessed on the creativity and technical skill they demonstrate in their video, whether it’s the director speaking and explaining their vision or is of a trailer or a compilation of previous works.
The application is open internationally. The deadline is 15 March 2020 and the completed films will be screened at Sharjah Film Platform, December 2020.
