Tashkeel has announced a series of workshops for young artists from ages of 8-16. The winter camp will be spread over December and will cover different workshops focusing on areas such as watercolour, abstract art, printmaking and more. Here are some of the highlights.
The Watercolour Garden with Fatima Atallah
16 December - 10 AM - 1 PM
Use the Tashkeel garden as inspiration for painting a watercolour landscape. Exploring the flora and fauna, work with fine artist and Tashkeel member Fatima Atallah on how best to bring a garden to life.
The Case of the Abstracts with Madeline Butcher
17 December - 10 AM - 1 PM
How do you free up the process and create/define boundaries within a piece? Exploring free-flowing lines and colour with Maddy Butcher, go through the variables involved in abstract work – spontaneity versus control, sharp edges versus blurred lines.
Tags and Murals with John Marsland
18 December - 10 AM - 1 PM
Design your own tags and produce a collaborative mural with photographer and graffiti artist John Marsland. Equipped with stencils, spray-paint and imagination, work on creating a personal tag identity. Then work with the rest of the group to produce a spectacular mural.
Creating Creepy-Crawlies with Tamsin Wildy
19 December - 10 AM - 1 PM
Taking inspiration from some of the world’s most unique and beautiful insects, work with wire, feathers and fabric to create fantastic and imaginative creatures. A great chance to think out-of-the-box when it comes to building these quirky creations.
T-shirt and Tote Printing with Khalid Mezaina
20 December - 10 AM - 1 PM
Discover the basics of screen-printing with illustrator and Tashkeel member Khalid Mezaina. Make design templates for t-shirts and tote bags and print them. You can also bring your own fabric to print on.
