10 Cultural Things To Do Over The National Day Weekend

The long weekend is fast approaching and heres our top cultural picks.

Parades

  • La Mer – 1 and 2 December at 9 pm
  • The Beach Jumeirah – 2 December at 9:30 pm

  • Dubai Festival City – 2 December at 8 pm and 10 pm 

 

Yas Celebrations

Yas Marina Circuit and Yas Island are back for the fourth consecutive year with the one of the biggest National Day celebrations in the region on Sunday. Enjoy free entertainment at the 'Let Your Colours Go' event taking place from 2pm to 9pm, including BMX tricks, balloon installations and an Emirati kitchen.

Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain will host a programme of celebrations including a theatrical spectacle, which will tell the story of the union of the seven emirates using audio and visual effects especially designed for different age groups. The performance will last for one hour, from 7pm - 8pm, and will be presented in both Arabic and English.

 

Performaces at Seef

Alongside the fireworks, Al Seef will be hosting some of the best UAE National Day events in Dubai, that range from live performances by talented Ayala and Garbiya bands, Razfa dancers and more. There will also be a live merchants show by the waterfront, where you can purchase some festive National Day apparel such as pins, flags and caps. The thrilling line-up live shows will start on 30 November go on till the 2nd December.

 National Day Celebrations at Wow JBR #WOWJBR

#WOWJBR at Jumeirah Beach Residences (JBR) also has its own list of things to do for UAE National Day in Dubai that place emphasis on the UAE’s vibrant culture and heritage. There will be the traditional Ayala dancers, Razfa drummers and Arabic musicians alongside LED Cyr wheel performers and traditional mascots.

Laser show at Dubai Festival City

Dubai Festival City is also joining in with a list of activities for UAE National Day in Dubai. There will be the fireworks on 2nd December, alongside Ayala dance performances. However, the highlight of the National Day events at Dubai Festival City will be the brand new IMAGINE show that will beam the colours of the UAE flag across the waters of the Festival Bay. The festivities will begin from 2pm onwards, which is perfect if you are looking for a place to celebrate and do some shopping.

City Walk Arts and Crafts

City Walk will be adorned with UAE flags for their version of the UAE National Day celebrations in Dubai. There will also be a separate area with arts and crafts workshops for the little ones and loads of themed entertainment including the traditional Ayala Group and Harbiya performances. You can even get UAE-coloured scarves and pins.

Burj Park Concerts

will also be hosting a range of concerts for UAE National Day in Dubai to celebrate the occasion. Arabic icon Waleed Al Shami will take the stage on 1st December, followed by pop icon Balqees and Hussain Al Jasmi on 2nd December. The performers are big names in the Arabic community and will serenade the crowd with a playlist of their hit songs.

Global Village Celebrations

If you are heading down to Global Village this week, make sure to catch Hamad Al Amri, independent Emirati singer, who is well loved in the region as a seasoned National Day performer. While enjoying the tunes of Hamad, you can also enjoy the expansive spread of entertainment, shopping and food venues in Global Village.

Flag Island

Artists Al Wasmi and Hazzaa Al Raeesy will be performing at The Flag Island Amphitheatre, Sharjah, on Sunday, December 2, from 8:30pm to 12:30am as part of UAE National Day celebrations. Classic cars exhibition, kids activities and culinary delights will be part of the entertainment on the day for families.
