Sharjah Art Foundation's latest exhibition Sharjapan: The Poetics of Space, will be accompanied by a comprehensive programme of performances, talks and screenings. The exhibition will open to the public on 21 November at Al Hamriyah Studios in Sharjah.
The Poetics of Space will highlight book design in Japan from the early twentieth century to the present through innovative exhibition methods, bringing together typography, page design and photographs combining text and images.
It will include three days of public programming on Wednesday, 21 November 2018 and Friday, 23 November 2018 in Al Hamriyah Studios and on Thursday, 22 November 2018 in Poetry House, Al Mureijah Square, Sharjah. The first day will see a solo performance by Japanese poet Gozo Yoshimasu, while the second will include a collaborative performance by both Yoshimasu and Emirati poet Hassan Al Najjar
In its exploration of the relationship between art and books, the eight-week exhibition will consist of three sections: the photography book, art and book design, and the artwork in book form. The exhibition is part of a three-year-long collaboration between Sharjah Art Foundation and Yuko Hasegawa.
