Islamic Art And Culture Festival Set To Debut In Abu Dhabi

The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has announced the inaugural Al Burda Festival will begin in Abu Dhabi next week, the event will feature regional and international speakers, calligraphers, poets, artists and musicians.

The Al Burda Festival is set to open in Warehouse 421 on November 14 this year and is part the UAEs vision towards promoting Islamic arts and culture in the region. The festival will include art installations from Lulwah Al Homoud, Gabo Arora, DIDI and Aga Khan trust for culture. Musical guests include Mazin El Bagir, Youssef Yassen, Bait Al Oud (pictured above) and more.

The event will also include the launch of the 'Al Burda Festival Endowment', an initiative that seeks to expand the reach of Islamic culture by recognizing creative pioneers. The endowment will recognize ten artists who will be involved in various activities throughout 2019 and 2020.

Winners of the 15th annual Al Burda Award for achievement in the traditional Islamic arts will be announced at New York University Abu Dhabi.
