'Japanism Sensation' is a cultural music festival that will bring together unique performers from Japan. This month the festival will host two Japanese bands, Heavenese and Zuiho Taiko at the Madinat Jumeirah Theatre in Dubai.
The one-day festival will take place on Friday 21st September and is a great way to get acquainted with traditional Japanese music and customs.
Gospel unit, Heavenese will start the show at 7 pm. The fusion of soul music with traditional Japanese music will be led by nine-time Grammy award-winning producer, Andrae Crouch. Contemporary and classical instruments will be played alongside Japanese Koto and Taiko drums to create diverse musical soundscapes.
Next up is Zuiho Taiko, a five-man band playing traditional Japanese Taiko drums. The band came together in 1987 in what started as a way for five people with intellectual disabilities to feel at peace has now become a nationally and internationally recognised music ensemble. Since the group formed, Zuiho Taiko has performed in various locations around the world including Paralympic ceremonies as well as the office of the Japanese Prime Minister.
