A singing competition in the UAE, Project: Aloft Star 2018 is giving talented singers the chance to get famous and have their music heard. The winner is promised the opportunity to not only record a single at the popular Abbey Road Studios in the UK but also globally release their song on a digital platform complete with a music video courtesy Universal Music Group.
Interested artists aged 21 and above can enter the competition by submitting a video of themselves singing along with a short biography, only original songs will be accepted. Submissions are open from September 18 until October 6.
Besides originality, participants will be judged on their creativity, quality of performance, entertainment value, artistic composition and how well they can capture an audience.
Four finalists will be chosen via fan votes and a judging panel. The finalists will then be mentored by professionals from the music industry, this year’s mentors include former The Voice France contestant and Lebanese pop singer, Anthony Touma, Anghami Artist, DJ Mark Shakedown, Dubai-based DJ Shaun Warner and Revolt Magazine founder, Big Hass.
The judging panel for the final performance at Aloft Deira City Centre will include the CEO of Universal Music Mena, Patrick Boulos; VP Partnerships at Anghami, Rami Zeidan; and Virgin Radio hosts, Maz & James.
Last year’s winner, Stephon LaMar, recorded and released his pop-R&B song ‘Love on the Internet’ and now performs weekly at Dubai’s Soho Garden.
