Sharjah’s Africa Hall was inaugurated in 1976 but demolished a couple of years ago due to safety concerns, now the newly rebuilt Africa Hall is all set to open on September 25th. The hall will serve as a centre for academic research into African and African diaspora studies, with a particular emphasis on the links between African nations and the Arabian Gulf.
To celebrate the opening an exciting line up of performances has been announced, including Senegalese music legend Youssou N'Dour whose songs have been covered by Dido, Tracy Chapman, Timbaland and others.

Following the opening of Africa Hall, the venue will host 5-plus-1: Rethinking Abstraction, a symposium organised by Sharjah Art Foundation in conjunction with the exhibition Frank Bowling: Mappa Mundi.
