The Google Arts & Culture app is a free online platform that allows users to access high-resolution images of artworks housed in Google's international partner museums which include the MoMA, J. Paul Getty, Van Gogh, Tate Britain and more. The project was launched in 2011 by the Google Cultural Institute and started out with 17 museums, Google now has collections from over 800 museums worldwide. The museum app makes a great companion for art enthusiasts by providing tours, images, audio guides, descriptive texts and more. However, the apps newest addition has got everyone talking - Google calls it the ‘Art Selfie’
This feature incorporates Googles face recognition technology and churns out your lookalikes from classic paintings in just a few seconds.
Art Selfie has now been launched in the UAE - we tried it out and yes its fun!
To use the feature, download the Google Arts & Culture app on iPhone or Android, and select the Art Selfie feature(pictured above).
Tag us in your 'Art Selfies' and we'll share them #artkentro
