Critical Dialogues by art writer Kevin Jones will return this month for its third year. The course will explore the reasons behind contemporary art and is designed for art enthusiasts, artists and writers.
Sessions will be held every Wednesday from 26 September to 12 December for a grand total of 12 classes, Critical Dialogues will aid participants in discovering how the meaning behind art came to be. The main focus of the workshop will be the mechanism of critique, which will be studied through engaging discussion of critical texts on local, regional and international art exhibitions. Topics that will be covered include mythification of the artist, postcolonialism and the question of identity, as well as issues including how practitioners frame their practice, multiculturalism, and the relationship between artists and institutions.
All classes will be held at Tashkeel premises in Nad al Sheba, Dubai. Total fees for all 12 classes is Dh 1381. Reading material will be provided.
