The 28th Annual Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is all set to return to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 25 April – 1 May 2018. The fair will open daily from 9am – 10pm and entry to the event is free. Aside from the excellent literature that you can discover at the event, here are a few event highlights for creatives.
A Variety of Speakers
Speakers include Glen Gathard and Jemma Riley. Glen is head of Digital Recording and Mixing at the Pinewood Studios Group. He has worked on films such as EX Machina, Skyfall, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter. Last month Glen was also nominated for his work on Wonder Woman and Baby Driver at the CAS awards.
Jemma Riley Is the head of voice casting and editorial for audiobook production and has assisted in building Pinewoods 3,000 strong voice pool of talent that they have access to for casting across all projects. Most recently Jemma was also involved in the sound editorial of Tomb Raider as well as casting for audiobooks and video games dialogue.
Check out the Illustrators Corner
The Illustrator’s Corner is part of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair’s (ADIBF) strategy to make its halls and open spaces a hub for knowledge, creativity, and innovation in the field of bookmaking.
This corner draws on the diverse experiences of a selected group of talented illustrators from all over the world who are interested in fostering an understanding of the images that accompany books. The illustrators will also give visitors an opportunity to participate in creating images for picture books, and offer workshops for aspiring writers.
Visit Canon’s Book Forum
In honour of the ‘Year of Zayed’, this year’s 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will host an additional event enabled and organized by Canon which will explore how publishers could grow in the future through innovative approaches in a rapidly-changing and demanding world.
The first ever Middle East ‘Future Book Forum’ at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) will be held on April 28, 2018. This event is an extension of the European Future Book Forum which takes place in Germany every year, bringing together the whole industry from publishers, to printers, to retailers and readers.
