Middle East Film And Comic Con 2018

The Middle East Film and Comic Convention is all set to return to the Dubai World Trade Center from 5 - 7 April. Besides being the largest pop culture event in the region the exhibition is also a space for creatives to network and showcase their talent. 


What are the art related highlights you shouldn't miss?

This year, the International Artist Alley will see renowned comic artists convening to share their wisdom and skills.


Get Simpson-ized: Learn the Hilarious Art of the Simpsons - 6th April - 13:00–13:45 

Is there anyone who doesn't instantly recognize the yellow Simpson characters? Phil Ortiz is the artist behind well-known characters such as Flanders, Lou, Eddie, Herman and others. His workshop will be unique, as he Simpson-izes attendees!


Manga with a Twist - 6th April - 19:00-19:45.

Yishan Li is a British Manga artist and her workshop will include creating two complete basic Manga characters.


Creating Iconic Comics -  7th April - 12:00-12.45 

Bob Layton is the artist behind Marvels re-invention of Iron Man and Hercules. His interactive workshop will include tips on how to create comics for longevity.


Creating Manga and Comics: From paper to screen -  7th April - 17:00-17:45 

Stu Levy is arguably one of the most experienced publishers and producers in the business.  Writers and artists take note as Stu will hold a special portfolio review at the end of the session - an opportunity for valuable feedback.


The Pop Art Collective will bring in some interesting memorabilia to the UAE for the first time ever. This includes the original Joe Shuster drawing of Superman and other artworks with prices ranging from 25AED to 40,000AED.

For those involved in Filmmaking and Makeup - NYX Professional Makeup will hold live makeup demonstrations over the course of the three days, the sessions will focus exclusively on makeup for film. Tutors inlcude Lebanese artist and body painter Michel El Ghoul in action on 5th April,  Hollywood certified SFX artist Tanios Hokayem on 6th April and Black Panther makeup artist Manal El-Hage on 7th April.
