Any practicing artist or student of the arts knows the importance of research and reading to ones work. However, in the UAE we have had limited access to real books and resources. As a testament to the country's commitment to the creative industry, the Al Safa Art and Design Library is poised to lend a hand. The new library is due to officially open at the end of April. This week, as a part of Art Dubai, visitors were given a sneak peek of the facility.
The Al-Safa library will allocate thirty percent of its space to book collection and reading. The remaining seventy percent will be dedicated to art programs, and for the use of galleries to present shows and other art-related events.
A focal point for the creative community in Dubai is being established as Al Safa will appeal not just to adults and young individuals but the library will also include a children's area with engaging features such as media and activity rooms, an interactive digital wall and more.
Official date of opening is yet to be announced
