As Dubai film festival continues, an opportunity for talented young filmmakers is also beginning.
Budding film-makers under 25 years are invited to participate in the Smartphone film making competition. Competitors must use their Smartphone to create a short film of 3 minutes. The film must be a work of fiction, live action or a stop motion animation and suitable for viewers 18 years and younger. The film can be in English or Arabic.
The competition is being held by the British Council in preparation for the Small Screen, Big Film Festival being held in March 2018. A selection of the entries will be shown at the Festival and the winning entry will receive 1 on 1 coaching from a leading professional in the UK film industry.
The four winners' and runner up winners will be chosen by a panel of filmmakers from the UK and the Gulf. However, they will also take into account likes and popularity of the films that are shown during the festival. Start work on your submission soon because the competition closes on the 31st January. To be eligible to take part you need to be a resident or national of the 6 Gulf countries, and aged 14-25 years.
