Three Artists To Watch Out For At MEFCC 2017

The Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) powered by Rani for 2017, the definitive pop culture convention in the Middle East is back for its sixth edition and will be showcasing an eclectic and fun-filled lineup of content from 6th to 8th April 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Here are the three international artists we think you should watch out for at the show.

 

JAMES C MULLIGAN

Disney artist James C Mulligan's fine art work is collected internationally, and resides in the collections of Hugh Hefner, Brad Pitt, Fred Durst, and many others. Corporate clients include Disney, Lucas Films, Warner Brothers, Hollywood's Magic Castle, Lexus, Coca Cola, Elvis Presley Enterprises (The estate's official artist), The Frank Sinatra Foundation, The Hollywood Director's Guild, Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark, MMA, and many others.

He was recently named as one of Disney's top selling artists, and his solo shows at the Bellagio and Aria resorts in Las Vegas broke all records, both domestically and internationally. 

Mulligan is currently in development on a television show at Dreamworks Studios, as well as involved with development work on an unnamed Sony project with Rob Minkoff (director of Disney's THE LION KING) and Mel Brooks.

TOM BANCROFT

Tom Bancroft was a Walt Disney feature animator for 11 years. He has been nominated for Annie and Rueben awards, spoken at the Kennedy Center and awarded an entry into the Chicago Children’s Film Festival.

While at Disney, Bancroft had the opportunity to contribute animation on 10 animated feature films, 5 animated shorts, and numerous special projects and commercials. Some of the classic films include, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan and Brother Bear.

In 2005, Bancroft had his popular art instruction book, Creating Characters with Personality published by Watson-Guptill Publishers with ‘guest’ contributors like Glen Keane, Jack Davis, Peter de Seve, and Butch Hartman, it has already become the most recognized book on designing characters for animation, video games, comic books and cartooning. Creating Characters with Personality has become a required textbook at many art schools around the United States.

LONG VO

Long Vo is a Senior Producer and Lead Artist for Udon Entertainment. Long is most known for his art direction and illustration on many Udon/Capcom projects from the Street Fighter Comics to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Tatsunoko VS Capcom, Street Fighter 4 and 5 -- as well as the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter 2 for the new Nintendo Switch.

Over the last decade, Long has worked as a comic creator, illustrator and art director for various companies such as Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros, DC, Capcom, Udon, Toynami and Harmony Gold on brands like StarWars, Xmen, Xmen Evolution, Robotech, Inception, Thundercats, Monopoly and Voltron.
